Kemptville District Hospital: inpatient unit closed to visitors amid “respiratory outbreak”

Kemptville residents who have a friend or family member staying at the hospital won’t be able to visit them for the near future.

Staff from the Kemptville District Hospital say its inpatient unit is closed to visitors until further notice, because of a “respiratory outbreak.”

“Under the direction of our local Public Health Unit and for the safety of our patients and staff, we have implemented these visitor restrictions until further notice,” the announcement reads. “Exceptions will be made in an end-of-life situation.”

According to the announcement, other parts of the hospital, like its Interim Long-Term Care Unit, are still open to visitors.

We’ve reached out to Communications and Patient Relations Officer Jenny Read to learn more about the outbreak, and when residents can expect the restrictions to be lifted.
