IACC announces second annual September 30th Truth and Reconciliation ceremony

With the second-ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a few weeks away, the Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada (IACC) is making plans for another ceremony on Parliament Hill.

The organization is hosting a “children and youth led” ceremony for the statutory holiday.

The event will feature a “little shoes” memorial, to commemorate the lives of children who died at residential schools, as well as a “gifting circle” showing appreciation towards survivors.

Autumn Peltier, an activist and the Chief Water commissioner for the Anishinabek Nation, will also be at the event as a guest speaker.

The IACC is also seeking video tributes to survivors, which will be played at Parliament Hill during the ceremony.

The event is happening September 30th. You can learn more on the IACC’s website.
