Kemptville District Hospital Emergency Department experiencing capacity strain

Jenny Read, the Kemptville District Hospital’s (KDH) Communications Officer, says it’s struggling to deal with demand in its emergency department.

“KDH, like many hospitals across Ontario, is currently experiencing high patient volumes in our Emergency Department combined with staffing shortages,” she says.

Read is urging Kemptville residents to look elsewhere for some kinds of healthcare.

“If you are able to seek medical attention for a mild ailment at a walk-in clinic or book an appointment with your primary care provider,” Read says, “we encourage you to please do so to help preserve our capacity to provide emergency care to our community.”

If you don’t have a family doctor, Read says you should use Health Connect Ontario, a provincial service that connects people with registered nurses for free health advice.
