Seaway Surge AA team loses in finals of Seaway Shootout

A local youth baseball team is thanking parents and volunteers for their help running a tournament.

The annual “Seaway Shootout,” organized by the Seaway Surge, was held at baseball diamonds in Morrisburg, Kemptville and Winchester over the weekend.

The Surge, a Morrisburg-based organization that lets kids from municipalities all over the area compete against other local teams, sent two groups of fifteen and under kids to the tournament.

The organization’s “A” team didn’t qualify for the playoff round after losing two games out of three early on.

Meanwhile, two wins and one loss sent the Surge’s “AA” team to the playoffs, where they earned a spot in the final game with a 15-10 win against the Guelph Royals.

In the finals, the AA team lost against the Toronto-based Royal York Cardinals, 15-6.

The Surge organization thanked everyone who took part and helped out behind the scenes at the event on Facebook.

“It’s what makes the Shootout tournament what it is,” reads the post, “and why so many teams come back year after year to the best tournament in Eastern Ontario.”
