OFA responds to OMAFRA release on ban of neonics to save pollinators

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture is responding to the recent white paper released by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs where they strongly suggest reducing the use of neo-nicotinoid pesticides in order to preserve the honey bee population. The OFA says they strongly support the need for a comprehensive strategy to address the matter of pollinator health but they feel the Ontario government approach to dramatically lower levels of treated seed acreage is not evidence based. In their response, the OFA outlines at least nine stressors affecting pollinator health, suggesting the government address all health factors as part of a comprehensive pollinator health strategy.
