UCDSB student senate fundraiser brings in $9,000+ for Indigenous Communities

The Upper Canada District School Board’s (UCDSB) Eshal Ali is congratulating her fellow students on the results of a recent board-wide fundraising effort.

Ali, a Student Trustee, helped organize fundraising events last month at every UCDSB school for Green Iglu, a charity based out of Toronto that helps provide food to Indigenous Communities in northern Ontario.

The results of the campaign were announced at this week’s UCDSB Board of Trustees meeting.

“Our initial goal for this fundraiser was $5,000,” Ali says. “Now that we’ve received numbers from each school, we are beyond excited to announce that our board-wide initiative has raised over $9,200.”

Ali says much of the credit for the success of the month-long campaign should go to her fellow students.

“Student Senators truly went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts,” she says.

“We’re extremely grateful to be able to organize this board-wide fundraiser for such an amazing charity, and are beyond impressed with the results.”
