Volunteer Centre for St. Lawrence-Rideau hosting “Youth Financial Literacy” workshops this May

The Volunteer Centre for St. Lawrence-Rideau is hosting a series of workshops this month you might want to sign your child up for, if they still need some volunteer hours to graduate.

The organization is hosting three virtual “Youth Financial Literacy” workshops, meant to help teach teenagers and young adults how to manage their money.

According to its website, the workshops will focus on “credit and debt, banking and savings, consumerism, living on your own for the first time, budgets, income taxes, post secondary education finances, [your] first job and your income,” and more.

The workshops are being held at 7:00 PM on May 17th, 24th and 31st, and they’re all expected to last an hour and a half. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 21 can participate.

Adults who take part will get free gift cards to local grocery stores when they complete each workshop, and high school students can earn up to 10 hours of community service through the program.

If you or your child are interested in signing up to participate, you can find registration details on the Volunteer Centre for St. Lawrence-Rideau website.
