Municipality of North Grenville: Last chance for bulky item pick-up until October

If you’ve got any old mattresses or other large waste you’re trying to get rid of, you’ve only got a few days left to get them picked up before the fall.

The Municipality of North Grenville is picking up bulky items curbside alongside regular garbage and recycling this week.

You’ll need to buy special tags for anything you plan to leave out. The municipality says the tags cost $12.50 each, and some items, like bookshelves, mattresses and desks, need two tags in order to be collected.

You can buy the tags at the municipal centre, at Jonssons’s Independent Grocer in Kemptville, or online, but they’ll take a few days to ship if you don’t buy them in person.

If you have a number of smaller items you want to leave out, you can tag them as a group, as long as they’re contained in something like a bag, and the total weight of each group is 80 pounds or less

Some items, including appliances like washing machines and refrigerators, aren’t being accepted at all, according to the municipality.

To see a full list of what is and isn’t being accepted, as well as what needs two tags, visit the Municipality of North Grenville’s website.

The last day for collection this week is Friday, May 13th. After that, the next bulky item collection week begins on October 31st.
