Health Unit creates document to help Ukrainian refugees find health services

As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has taken a new step to help people fleeing the conflict.

“With the current war in Ukraine, we expect to welcome refugees throughout Leeds, Grenville and Lanark,” the organization says. “We have developed resources in Ukrainian and English that highlight some of the programs and services they may need.”

The new document contains a full breakdown of Health Unit services that are available for refugees in our region, like prenatal care for pregnant mothers, vaccine clinics and STI testing centres.

The Health Unit is also offering interpretation services, so refugees who speak little to no English can still communicate with doctors and other healthcare workers.

To download the document in either language, or read more about the interpretation services, visit the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit website.
