Municipality of North Grenville issues burn ban

You might want to reschedule any bonfires you had planned in North Grenville over the next few days.

“With the weather conditions being extra dry and windy for the next few days, in combination with the dead winter undergrowth, the North Grenville Fire Service has imposed a total burn ban for the Municipality of North Grenville,” says Fire Prevention Officer Shannon Armitage.

For the duration of the ban, no open air fires of any kind are allowed, even if you have a burn permit.

Armitage says the fire department doesn’t know yet how long the ban will need to be in effect.

“The conditions will be monitored daily to determine when the burn ban will be lifted,” she says.

If you’ve been thinking about having a bonfire or something similar, Armitage also wants to remind you to apply for a burn permit first, if you don’t already have one.

Permits cost $15. You can apply on the Municipality of North Grenville’s website.
