A local terrorism expert says the claim that suspected ISIS fighter John Maguire is dead may actually be fake. The Ottawa Sun reports Canadian security officials are still trying to determine whether a January 14th post on a pro-ISIS Twitter account claiming the ‘martyrdom’ of the former Kemptville resident is for real. A similar death claim was made by ISIS about Belgian terrorist Tarik Jadaoun, who faked his own death in order to get back into his home country, allegedly to carry out further attacks. Jadaoun was shot dead by commandos last week. Thomas Juneau of Ottawa U says if Maguire is alive, however, it isn’t likely he will try to re-enter Canada after his face was made public in a pro-ISIS video that went viral.
