Kemptville 73s lose 2, win 1 in Easter weekend playoff games

After three straight losses, a 6-5 win has kept the Kemptville 73s in the Central Canada Hockey League playoffs.

The team played the Renfrew Wolves, its first-round opponent, three times on the long weekend, facing off twice in Kemptville and once in Renfrew.

The team’s April 14th loss was its first home playoff game since 2016. Coach Jason Yorke called the atmosphere at the arena “awesome.”

“It’s unbelievable, the community in Kemptville coming out to support us like this, I’m so happy,” he says.

“It’s great, with everything everyone’s gone through these last couple of years, with COVID and everything, to see people in hockey rinks again.”

After another road loss on the 15th, the team rallied to win game four on Easter Sunday in Kemptville.

Game 5 is being held tonight at 7:30 in Renfrew.
