Ottawa Hospital’s Civic Campus upgrade gets nearly $30 million provincial boost

The Ottawa Hospital’s new Civic Campus will get over $29 million from the province.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford joined hospital officials Friday announcing the funding which will help the campus serve as the lead acute care center for the Capital and Champlain Regions.

“The new Civic Campus will include a cutting-edge trauma centre, a larger emergency department, an updated and expanded surgical suite, and over 300 new beds including acute care and a new rehabilitation centre,” Ford said.

According to the hospital’s President and CEO, Cameron Love, the regional Ottawa community is one of the fastest-growing in Ontario and in Canada. As a hospital, Love says, “We must be able to meet the needs of our patients today and in the years to come, so that we are ready to provide world-class care whenever they need us. We are building the future of health care for Ottawa and Eastern Ontario with the generous support of the Government of Ontario.”

Construction on the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus expansion will begin in 2024.
