Portion of County Road 43 closing next week due to “railway emergency”

You might need to find a new path into Merrickville for the next few days.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville announced Wednesday that the portion of County Road 43 that goes below the CP Rail overpass just outside the village will be closing throughout next week, due to what it calls a “railway emergency.” Ambulances, fire trucks and other emergency vehicles will still be let through.

Bill Guy, the United Counties’ Manager of Engineering and Operations, says the road closes on Monday, March 14th. Signs throughout the area say it’ll be closed from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM throughout the week, before reopening the evening of Friday, March 18th.
