North Dundas, Gananoque students elected UCDSB Student Trustees

Olivia Pereira and Janevra Pier say they’re excited for the opportunity to work with the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) next year.

Pereira, a student from North Dundas District High School, and Pier, from Gananoque Intermediate and Secondary School, have been elected as the UCDSB’s Student Trustees for the 2022-23 school year. The election was held Friday afternoon, with representatives from every UCDSB school voting.

“We are fortunate to be able to work with such dedicated and insightful Student Trustees,” says UCDSB Vice-Chair Donald Cram. “We truly look forward to the new ideas and perspective that these young women will bring to the Trustee table.”

As Student Trustees, Pereira and Pier will be representing UCDSB students at the board’s meetings twice a month. They’ll also be attending provincial Student Trustee conferences in Ottawa and Toronto during the school year, and meeting regularly with representatives from other schools. Their term begins on August 1st.
