Debbie Wilson filling vacancy on North Grenville council

A Kemptville business owner is being sworn into our municipality’s council later this month.

After a few weeks of accepting applications and interviewing people interested in the position, Debbie Wilson has been selected to fill the seat of Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman, who’s in the process of moving away from North Grenville after purchasing a business in another province.

Wilson, the co-owner of Grahame’s Bakery in Kemptville, has a history of volunteer work in the community. She’s currently part of the North Grenville Police Services Board, and the Chair of the municipality’s Community and Economic Development Municipal Advisory Committee, but will be stepping down as Chair once she’s sworn in.

“I am honoured to have been selected to join North Grenville’s Council and serve the community I love,” Wilson says. “I look forward to working with Mayor Peckford, Councillors Barclay, O’Sullivan and Strackerjan to continue building on our shared vision for North Grenville.”

North Grenville’s Corporate Media Relations Officer, Jill Sturdy, says Wilson will be sworn in before March 1st, and will serve until the next municipal election on October 24th. The municipality plans to appoint a new Deputy Mayor after Wilson is sworn in.
