Kemptville Creek Community Skateway temporarily closing due to warm weather

If you want to go skating this week, you might need to stick to indoor rinks.

The Municipality of North Grenville has announced the Kemptville Creek Community Skateway is temporarily closing Wednesday at noon.

The skating rink, which originally opened for the year in January, closed briefly last week due to warm temperatures affecting the ice’s thickness, before reopening on Sunday.

The skateway closing for a second time comes as warm temperatures are expected locally over the next few days, which may cause flooding in some parts of the region.

North Grenville has given no timeline for when the rink will open again. In the meantime, if you want to skate on a rink maintained by the municipality, the North Grenville Municipal Centre’s arena is open for skating on most weeknights.
