UCDSB congratulates local student for winning North Grenville Civic Award

A North Grenville District High School Student is being recognized by both her school board and her community.

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is congratulating Eliza Batchelor, a Grade 11 student at the high school, for receiving North Grenville’s award for “Exemplary Work in the Community.”

Batchelor was presented the award earlier in February at the municipality’s award ceremony, for her work on the “Hidden World Project,“ an initiative to raise awareness for human trafficking in the Ottawa Valley region that Batchelor launched in 2021.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the UCDSB says it’s “very proud” of Batchelor for working to teach people about human trafficking through the project.

Other winners of the same award include Salvation Army volunteer Diana Fisher, Oxford Mills Community Association member Niel Whyte, and Kemptville Pride, a local non-profit organization. To see a full list of the awards and their winners, visit the municipality’s website.
