In an interview with the Ottawa Sun, Patricia Earl said she heard reports of her son’s death from a family member just before it hit the media. A pro-ISIS Twitter account has claimed the Kemptville man died a martyr, fighting for the Islamic state. Government officials have not yet confirmed the claim.
