Kemptville couple welcomes Winchester District Memorial Hospital’s first baby of 2022

“I felt something at the party and things got worse during the night.”

That’s Kayla Chapman, a Kemptville woman and new mother, talking about the night before going into labour.  “We called the Birthing Unit and decided to head to the hospital around 4:00 in the morning,” Chapman says. “It was snowing so hard, and roads weren’t plowed so we had to take our time.”

Chapman gave birth to her son Asher at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on January 2nd. Asher was the hospital’s first baby of the year.

Chapman and her husband Paul say they’ve enjoyed their time at the hospital. “I’ve only heard great things about Winchester Hospital, and I didn’t want to go into Ottawa to have our baby,” Chapman says. “I have family and friends who have had their babies here too. Everyone has been great.”

Hospital CEO Cholly Boland says Asher is in good health, and is congratulating the Chapmans on the arrival of their baby.
