UCDSB schools reopening for public community events starting December 6th

After nearly two years, Upper Canada District School Board schools are opening their doors for community events again. The school board suspended all community activities in schools in March of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this week’s Board of Trustees meeting, the board’s Executive Superintendent of Business Services, Jeremy Hobbs, says the board has started accepting bookings again for events. “We’ve been working with our coterminous Catholic board,” Hobbs says, “on staying synced up with them in terms of dates.”

Hobbes also says the board is currently accepting bookings from groups that have run events at UCDSB schools in the past, rather than new organizations. “It’s not wide open to the public,” he says, “but open to people who have had a permit previously, which we feel encapsulates the vast majority of people who are interested in joining in right now.”

Public events at UCDSB schools are expected to resume starting December 6th.
