Winchester District Memorial Hospital: COVID-19 vaccines required for visitors starting October 25

A new COVID-19 vaccination policy is being put into place at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH). The hospital has announced all visitors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, starting on October 25th. Visitors will have to show their proof of vaccination certificate when they enter the hospital once the change takes effect.

Cholly Boland, the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, says this policy is being made for the sake of patient safety. “As a hospital, we have a duty and commitment to protect the health and safety of our staff, patients, and visitors,” says Boland. “Getting vaccinated remains the most effective way to do this.”

Boland also says the policy is only in effect for visitors, and that the hospital will still treat unvaccinated patients. Exemptions will also be allowed under special circumstances, like for the partners of patients going into labour. Visit the WDMH website for more details, and a full list of exemptions.
