“This is a unique project”; North Dundas mayor on new “Meet Your Neighbour” initiative

North Dundas Township has announced a new initiative to connect people across the community.

The new “Meet Your Neighbour” initiative will see stories from township residents published on social media, the township website and local media weekly. Mayor Tony Fraser says that the idea for the initiative came about because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the isolation he and the township feel the pandemic has caused.

“This is a unique project and an important one,” Fraser says. “It allows us to become better acquainted with our neighbors – people that we’ve seen on the streets but never met due to circumstances.”

Fraser says he hopes that the stories will unify the community, “Maybe someone walking down the street will recognize one of the people from Meet Your Neighbour and introduce themselves. Creating those community connections is what we’re aiming for. No one is better suited to tell the story of North Dundas than the people who call this community home.”

The township will publish the stories weekly starting Friday, October 1st. Visit the township website for details on how to participate, or suggest someone for the township to speak to.
