Kemptville Youth Centre holding its annual book fair again

A major fundraiser for the Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) is back.

Brain Arleth with the Centre says their Book Fair fundraiser will raise money to help fund programming put on at the KYC. The fundraiser has often been one of the main sources of income for the not-for-profit, and each dollar will go to help bring a safe and supervised environment for those who use the centre.

Arleth says he and his team have been collecting donations for a long time at the Furguson Forest Centre, and have collected thousands of books over the last few weeks. They are accepting books at the Forest Centre on Thursday from 4 PM until 7 PM, but will be able to accept donations all the way up until the date of the event.

The event itself will take place the weekend of August 20th at the Furguson Forest Centre. Doors will be open Friday and Saturday from 8 AM until 6 PM, rain or shine. On Sunday, they will be open from 9 until 12. Public health protocols are expected to be followed, and masks are required.

Books will normally sell for $2 apiece. However, books for youth and young adults will go for as low as $1. Picture books for very young children will go for $0.50.

Arleth says they would be happy to have volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can email [email protected]
