Disc Golf Course Introduced At Ferguson Forest Centre

There’s a new disc golf course at the Ferguson Forest Centre in Kemptville.

The nine-hole course is located in the multi-use natural green space of the Centre’s arboretum

Interim President for the Kemptville Disc Golf Club Dwayne Dowdell says creating the course has been a dream of his for years.

“Having found that space out there, and working with the Ferguson Forest Centre,” Dowdell said. “The vision has come to reality and it’s great, I love it, and it’s a dream come true.”

The Kemptville Disc Golf Club is a newly formed club that’s trying to promote the benefits of disc golf in the Kemptville area.

The course consists mostly of par 3 holes, a few par 4 holes, and one par 5 hole.

Because it’s located in a multi-use area, all players are required to be courteous and yield their play so they do not interfere with the public’s safe use and enjoyment of the land.

Dowdell feels the addition of the course will be vital to the growth of the sport in Kemptville.

“We’re getting a lot of attention from the community out of sheer curiosity and eagerness to learn about the game,” he said. “It’s a great way to get out and enjoy nature, and have a lot of fun while you’re doing it.”

Dowdell says membership is not required for casual play, but it is for club activities such as league play and tournaments.

More information on membership can be found on the Kemptville Disc Golf Club’s Facebook page.
