Registration Opens For Minor Hockey In Kemptville

Registration is officially open for the Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association’s 2021-22 season.

The league’s executive board says while planning will be a bit different for the foreseeable future, they are looking to go ahead with the upcoming year.

League President Stacey Seymour says while nothing is set in stone, they’re hopeful that things will return to normal.

“We’ve had no direction from Hockey Canada or Hockey Eastern Ontario,” Seymour said. We’re hoping that we’ll get that information soon, and opening registration just allows us to be ready once we know what hockey will look like.”

The league has made a few changes to registrations this year.

The late registration fee has been waived for a second straight season, and families are encouraged to register their child by July 14.

Registering after this date could result in players being placed on a waiting list.

Meanwhile, because so many families are dealing with uncertainties, the payment due date has been extended to September 15.

“We just want everybody to register as soon as they can,” Seymour said. “We’ve prolonged payment requirements so that parents have the flexibility to register and change their minds if hockey isn’t what it should be.”

Seymour says they’re also accepting applications for head coaches at all age levels, and there remains a need for volunteers on the board.

Once information is provided regarding the return-to-play from Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada, the league will post updates through its social media.
