Local Group Looks To Honour Role Models In The Community

A local organization is looking to recognize organizations, businesses and individuals who make a difference in kids’ lives in Leeds and Grenville.

The Every Kid in our Communities Coalition is looking to honour those who influence the lives of young people in a positive way.

Coalition Coordinator Margaret Fancy says they’d like to pay tribute to these ‘asset builders’.

“We’re encouraging youth and other adults in the community to think about what they’ve observed in terms of how some adults are connecting with children and youth,” Fancy said.

The Coalition is looking to identify those who show interest and invest time in children and youth, as well as inspire them, support them, and give them a voice.

Fancy says they are also looking to introduce kids and youth to new ideas and experiences.

“We’ve had nominations of a grocery store that always welcomes its team in from lunch, and would ask about how their day was going, we’ve had teachers make a difference, it really could be anything,” Fancy said.

The deadline for nominations is May 19.

The ‘asset builders’ will be recognized during a ZOOM ceremony on June 16.
