Giant Royal Rideau Adirondack Chairs Coming Soon To North Grenville

A new initiative is bringing big Adirondack chairs to help support small businesses in North Grenville.

The Best Adirondack Chair Company announced last week that they are building and installing large chairs across North Grenville, to represent the perseverance and resilience among businesses and residents through COVID-19.

Vice President of Sales and Chief Development Officer Dina Elatawi says the initiative is all part of the North Grenville Business Revival Program.

“We decided that we wanted to try and help other small businesses,” Elatawi said. “As time went on, we saw other businesses struggling, and how difficult it was, especially with restaurants, small stores and boutiques closing down, it broke our hearts because we know what it’s like as small business owners.”

The program is a collaboration between the municipality, the North Grenville Chamber of Commerce, the Old Town Kemptville BIA, and the Best Adirondack Chair Company.

Each chair will be a reflection of the community in which it sits and include artist depictions of its history and culture, as well as how to support local businesses.

The initiative will also have a tourism component as the chairs will serve as new local landmarks, encouraging residents and visitors to come explore North Grenville.

“The ultimate goal was to bring a lot of attention where people would want to come and see these chairs,” Elatawi said. “Almost create a map where people can take their families, take pictures, stop in for a coffee, or have lunch at a restaurant.”

There will be four chairs that will be placed in hamlets all through the municipality.

The official unveiling of one of the chairs will take place along with the official launch of North Grenville’s tourism season on Friday, May 21, at 1 p.m., in Rotary Park in Kemptville.
