Neil Doef has returned to eastern Ontario. The “Doef Strong” Facebook page reports late Christmas eve, the young hockey player was transferred to the Ottawa Hospital – an unexpected surprise for the family. The Smiths Falls native was seriously injured in a World Junior A Challenge game Dec. 14 in Saskatoon. while playing for Team Canada East. He underwent surgery that night at a Saskatoon hospital. More than $16,600 was raised in the final game played by the Smiths Falls Bears against the Cumberland Grads on December 19th.
