12% of Ontarians surveyed gave themselves a 'poor' mental health rating

More Ontarians are giving themselves a ‘poor’ rating when it comes to mental health. In a report released Thursday by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, 12 % of adults surveyed aged 18 to 29 said they were in poor mental health, up from just 3% in 2009. 2.2% of survey respondents said they had considered suicide in the previous year. Kemptville District Hospital CEO Colin Goodfellow says mental health continues to be an area of concern for our community hospital.

The Kemptville District Hospital Foundation is looking at fundraising initiatives and an outreach program for mental health in our community.

The hospital will look at working with local mental health service providers to see how they can expand services.
