Tomorrow all residents and staff at Dundas Manor will be tested for COVID-19.
According to a media release, there have been no confirmed cases at Dundas Manor to date and test results will be available early next week.
Administrator Susan Poirier says the proactive testing is being done in partnership with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and local paramedics.
“We are taking every precaution to keep our residents and staff safe. This is a directive from the Chief Medical Officer of Health to test all residents and staff of every long-term care home in the province.”
The media release says some long-term care home residents and staff in Ontario have received positive COVID-19 results despite having no symptoms. A COVID-19 outbreak is declared when one staff or resident tests positive for the virus.
Dundas Manor says they are taking every infection control precaution and has prepared isolation rooms in case they’re needed as part of the safety protocols.
