As predicted, the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund has reduced our grant once again. The surprise, however, was that the reduction wasn’t a further 10 percent but 20. North Grenville Treasurer Sheila Kehoe says North Grenville has a higher percentage of residents living above the poverty line and a lower unemployment rate in comparison to other municipalities and these are factors in the funding cut. Mayor Gordon said it’s almost like being punished for running things well. Since 2011, we’ve seen cuts totalling close to $630,000 in our OMPF grant.
