Local youth encouraging people to become organ donors

Ethan Bos is spreading an important message. The 13-year-old took steps to have April 7 declared Green Shirt Day in North Grenville and the City of Ottawa.

The movement started with Logan Boulet, one of Humboldt Broncos players who died in a tragic crash two years ago.

Bos explained that Boulet donated his organs and saved six lives. Known as the Logan Boulet Effect, over 100,000 people registered to become organ donors after his story was publicized.

Bos organized the first Green Shirt Day locally last year and continues to encourage people to become organ donors. He says there are approximately 1,650 people in Ontario waiting for an organ right now. Bos noted that 90% of Canadians say they support organ donations, but only 23% have registered to become donors.
