Radio station raises $4,312 for Big Sky Ranch

The total is in. Juice FM wrapped up a full week of fundraising efforts for Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary, netting $4,312 for the local rescue.

Andy Parent, Founder of Big Sky Ranch, says the dollars will go a long way. He noted some of the funds will cover veterinary costs and heating. The remaining amount is earmarked for a new hay storage facility.

Parent explained buying hay in the winter is more expensive than in the summer and adding storage space will result in cost savings. He says it’s a necessary step to keep all the animals fed, including the alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep, cows and horses.

Fundraising efforts kicked off on February 21, with Heat the Barn, in partnership with Brewed Awakenings. Donations continued to roll in last week and the initiative finished off with the Village Chef event in Merrickville on Saturday.

Parent says the radio station goes above and beyond for Big Sky Ranch, by helping to get the word out about the need. He noted around 120 animals currently call the sanctuary home.
