Soldier impersonator formally charged by police

The Cantley, Quebec man who posed as a member of the Canadian Forces on Remembrance Day has been formally charged by the police. Ottawa Police said Saturday they arrested and charged 32-year-old Franck Gervais with four criminal offences related to impersonating an officer. The maximum sentence is five years in prison.
A source says Gervais bought some of his military insignia on kijiji. It isn’t against the law to sell military property, but anyone who buys it could get five years in prison. As the investigation continues, there may be more charges to come. Gervais lives in the Quebec town forty minutes north of Ottawa and makes a living as a construction worker.
