Santa Shuffle to bring in dollars for Salvation Army

The second annual Santa Shuffle is coming up. The event is set for December 7 at the Ferguson Forest Centre, starting at 10:00am. People can register for the 5km fun run/walk, or 1km elf run, online. All proceeds go to the Kemptville Salvation Army.

Race Director Laura Valcour says 131 participants took part last year and raised over $5,000.

Valcour explained the goal is to top that amount. She says over 120 people have already registered, including the Kemptville 73’s hockey team. Registration is $30 for adults, $20 for kids and $90 for a family of six. Valcour noted people can collect pledges and anyone who raises over $50 will get a free shirt.

She says people are encouraged to dress up in festive gear. Valcour says the hope is to draw a big crowd to help vulnerable people in the community.

She noted the event wouldn’t be possible without support from local businesses.
