Kettle Campaign kicks off with free family skate

The 2019 Salvation Army Kettle Campaign gets underway this week.

Kettles will start popping up at local businesses on Friday. The official launch is set for Saturday at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The public is invited to a free skate, including hot chocolate donated by Les Winters, starting at 6:00pm.

The Kettle Campaign brought in over $88,000 last year. The goal is to raise $90,000 this year.

Coordinator Lynn Dolliver says it’s important to note that all the money raised in Kemptville stays in Kemptville. She explained the money goes towards Christmas baskets, the Back-to-School program and Snowsuit Fund.

Volunteers are needed to man the kettles. Shifts are two-hours each, running from 10:00am to 8:00pm. People can sign up for a single shift or many, at their preferred location.

Dolliver says she’d really like to see high school students helping out in this year. She explained that local businesses can also get involved by adopting a kettle for the day.

For more information or to become a volunteer, contact Dolliver directly by emailing [email protected] or calling 613-258-1638.
