The North Grenville District High School Knights cross country team finished its season off strong. A total of 22 runners competed at the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) championship, held in Petawawa on October 24.Â
The grade 9 boys’ team placed fourth in Eastern Ontario.
Athlete Sebastian Friedrich-Yap says the team trained every day since the beginning of September. He noted the course was challenging, with many hills to traverse. Â
Friedrich-Yap finished 10th in a field of 107 runners. He says he felt really good after the race, knowing he gave it his all.Â
Friedrich-Yap explained the team is looking forward to track and field in the spring and hopes to make it to the provincial championships next year.
The team was coached by Jennifer Ryan, Rebecca McKay, Brad Vaughan and Marc Bergeron.Â
