Habitat eyes Kemptville Campus for future build

Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands is looking at building a third home in North Grenville. The organization reached out to the municipality to see if there would be a suitable parcel of land for the project.

Phil Gerrard, Director of Planning and Development, provided an update to Committee of the Whole last night. He explained staff identified a half-acre of land, on Concession Road across from the hospital, as viable. The land is part of the Kemptville Campus.

Gerrard explained there are some planning challenges. He noted the land is designated agricultural and the zoning would also have to be changed to residential.

Two local families – one in Kemptville and one in Oxford Mills – have already benefited from Habitat builds.

Members of council voiced support for the project and directed staff to start the process.
