Fundraising dance being held for local man with terminal cancer

Sam Westover is living out his final days at home. The 56-year-old Kemptville man was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stomach cancer on September 22. He was given about a month to live.

Trisha Westover, Sam’s niece, says it was shocking. She is hosting a fundraising dance to help cover medical costs. The event is set for October 26 at the Kemptville Legion.

Westover says a band from Carleton Place, called Him & Us, is performing. She noted doors open at 6:30pm and there will be a silent auction and refreshments.

Westover explained the goal is to make him feel loved and supported during his last moments on earth. She says he’s a character, best described as a hippie who loves classic rock. Westover noted he’s very upbeat and always ready with a funny story.
