Crowdfunding is underway for a Merrickville family that lost everything in a house fire. Beth Handler returned home from getting groceries on September 22 to find firefighters battling the blaze. She and her two kids are currently staying with family in Kemptville.

Friend Jennifer Robinson says Handler is trying to find a place to rent. She noted the GoFundMe campaign will help the family get back on their feet.

Robinson explained it will cover the cost of clothing and groceries until the insurance money comes through.

The family also lost their dog in the fire. The goal is to raise $5,000. People can donate to the family by clicking here
