Beat the Silent Killer: beware of Carbon Monoxide in your home

November 1 to 8 is Ontario’s first Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. More than 50 people die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning in Canada, including 11 on average in Ontario. Following the passage of Bill 77 last year, new updates to the Ontario Fire Code make carbon monoxide alarms mandatory in all residential homes.

This first week of November, Ontario is talking about the importance of installing Carbon Monoxide alarms to keep families and homes safe. The awareness campaign, entitled “Beat the Silent Killer”, is led by fire services across the province.
