Salvation Army seeks donations for backpack program

The Salvation Army in Kemptville is looking for help with its back-to-school program.

The organization provides backpacks and school supplies for local families in need. Director Calvin Wong says monetary donations are the best way to contribute. He noted the Salvation Army buys the bags and fills them with binders, notebooks, pens and pencils to give local kids a good start to the year.

The program assists around 30 families annually. People looking to access the program can drop by the Salvation Army on Oxford Street West.

Wong says the number of children served through the program is on the rise. He explained new names are being added to the list all the time.
