Man arrested for punching officer has been on RCMP radar for months

An Ottawa man is facing charges after punching a police officer in the face. On Saturday afternoon Ottawa police conducted a traffic stop on Bank Street South. When confronted by police, 39-year-old Luqman Abdunnur became argumentative and acted erratically, pacing and chanting. He eventually struck an officer in the face and set off a foot chase. One officer shot at Abdunnur but missed the suspect. He was eventually subdued with a taser. According to the CBC, police now say the RCMP have had their eye on Abdunnur for months. He has been kicked out of at least two area mosques for violent outburts and extremist behaviour.
