Help needed for Hey Day

The 59th annual Hey Day is coming up. The event is organized by the Kemptville District Hospital Auxiliary in support of the hospital. Hey Day is set for June 7 and 8 this year, at the North Grenville Curling Club. Doors open at 6:30pm on the Friday.

Donations can be dropped off on June 5, between 3:00 and 7:00pm, and June 6, from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Baked goods will be accepted until noon on Friday.

Organizer Jolene Stover says every cent raised goes to the hospital to buy equipment, specifically to enhance the patient’s experience.

She says this year the money will go towards smart beds. Stover noted the beds do everything from monitoring vitals to letting nurses know when a patient has been laying in one spot for too long.

Hey Day is considered the largest indoor garage sale in Eastern Ontario. There are 22 sections, featuring linens, books, sporting goods, clothing, plants, toys, small appliances and everything in between.

Volunteers are needed to help set up tables on June 4, between 4:00 and 6:00pm. People can just drop by to lend a hand. Volunteers are also needed for sorting and tear down on Saturday.
