Sarah’s HOPE set to wrap up work at school in Kenya

Since 2011, Sarah’s HOPE has been raising money for the Gatwe Primary School in Kenya. Nine classrooms, a new toilet block and eco-kitchen later, the work is just about done.

Sarah’s HOPE, run by students and staff at North Grenville District High School, has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the school. Around 300 kids reap the benefits.

Phil Stover, former teacher and one of the forces behind Sarah’s HOPE, says this is the last piece of the project. He says it’s a significant moment for the group.

Stover will be heading to Kenya in the fall to check up on the school and deliver donations in person.

The 13th annual Sarah’s HOPE benefit concert is set for Thursday night in the school’s cafeteria. Doors open at 6:30pm and musical performances kick off at 7:00pm.

Tickets are $10 per person or $25 for a family of four. People can pick up tickets at the school or at the door.
