Hospital to launch youth mental health hub

The Kemptville District Hospital and its partners are launching the Mental Health & Addictions Health Hub for Children & Youth. The event is set for Saturday in the hospital’s courtyard. The ceremony kicks off at 11:30am.

A total of 20 service groups, including Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville (CMHLG) and Connect Youth, have come together to form the hub.

Project Manager Joanne Desormeaux says all the partners have a role to play in supporting children and youth’s mental health. She says the overall goal of the hub is to work more collaboratively in order to provide more timely and equitable services in the community.

The event will highlight the new walk-in clinic being offered through CMHLG and the navigation role that Connect Youth will play. The upcoming contest for local youth to name the hub will also be discussed.

Desormeaux says everyone is welcome to attend, especially children, youth, families and caregivers. She says the purpose is to raise awareness, so the more people the better.
