Municipality puts out call for volunteers to help clean up public spaces

Pitch-In Canada Week runs from April 22-29. The national initiative promotes environmental stewardship. The Municipality of North Grenville has been a participant since 2002. Over 600 people registered for Pitch-In Week last year.

Public Works Clerk Cheryl Fequet says Pitch-In Week is about coming together as a community to clean up public spaces, including roadways, waterways and parks.

You can register as an individual, family or community group. Pitch-In bags are available now at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. Once full, the bags can be put out for regular waste collection at no cost.

Fequet says if people stopped littering, there would be no need for Pitch-In Week. She says there’s not enough bylaw people in the world to stop people throwing trash out their windows.

Stop by the municipal centre during business hours to register for Pitch-In Week.
