Free Open Doors event at Limerick Forest

The Limerick Forest Interpretive Centre will be hosting a free open doors event.

The event runs from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Sunday, March 3.

It includes sleigh rides, displays of egg collections, taxidermy and hiking.

Refreshments such as fireside hot dogs, roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate will be available.

Visitors are welcome to bring snowshoes and cross-country skis to explore a fully groomed and mapped trail.

Limerick Forest Manager Geoff McVey says they have a couple pairs of snowshoes at the centre available to sign-out if people don’t have their own.

The goal of the event is to provide kids and families more exposure to the local outdoors.

McVey says previous events have drawn around 300 people, with the horse and wagon rides being a popular attraction.
