Family of six displaced by Boundary Road fire

A local family has been displaced by a structure fire. The North Grenville Fire Service (NGFS) was called out to a home on Boundary Road, between French Settlement and 43, at 10:52am today.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy flames coming from an attached garage and the fire had spread to the residence.

People were home at the time, but everyone escaped uninjured. A family of six is now displaced.

A crackling sound coming from the garage alerted the family to the fire. The residents immediately initiated their escape plan and exited the home with their pet. Upon leaving, the family was faced with flames coming from the garage.

The NGFS battled the fire with assistance from the Ottawa Fire Service. Paramedic Services also attended the location.

The residence was extensively damaged by fire with considerable loss to contents. The fire was brought under control after an hour and a half. The scene was cleared by 2:00pm, but the NGFS remained on scene to make sure the fire didn’t reignite.

The fire appears accidental in nature.
